Rebuilding your smile for optimal function.

When teeth are damaged or missing, it can affect your comfort, health, and confidence. At Northwoods Family Dental, our restorative dentistry services are designed to bring your smile back to full function and health. As your dental home, we are here to guide you through the process of rebuilding your smile, whether you need a single same day crown or a full-arch implant restoration.

Botox® for Therapeutic Relief

Advanced Treatment for TMD and Migraines

At our practice, we harness the therapeutic power of Botox (we use Daxxify) to treat several painful and disruptive conditions related to the facial muscles. It can be a life-changing treatment for patients suffering from TMD, as it helps to relax the powerful jaw muscles that cause clenching and pain. With approval from a neurologist, it can also be used to alleviate certain types of migraines. Additionally, it can help new denture wearers adapt more comfortably and can be used to reduce involuntary facial twitching, known as blepharospasms.

Gum Grafting

Restoring A Healthy Gum Line

If you have a receding gumline or exposed roots, gum grafting can help. By replacing the lost tissue, gum grafting both reduces tooth sensitivity and improves oral health. It also restores the natural beauty of your smile! Dr. Koehn and the Northwoods Dental team will guide you through the entire process, ensuring you feel safe and at ease each step of the way.

Bridges

A Fixed Solution for Missing Teeth

A dental bridge is a fixed, nonremovable restoration used to replace one or more missing teeth by spanning the empty space. The restoration consists of two crowns that are placed on the healthy teeth on either side of the gap—these are called abutment teeth. Between these crowns is a false tooth, or pontic, that fills the space of the missing tooth. We use our advanced in-office CEREC technology to create custom bridges from strong, durable materials that are color-matched to your natural teeth, restoring both function and aesthetics to your smile.

Why Restore Your Smile?

Restore Full Chewing Function

Missing or damaged teeth can make it difficult to eat your favorite foods. Restorations like crowns, bridges, and implants are designed to restore your ability to chew comfortably and effectively.

Prevent Future Dental Issues

Replacing a missing tooth prevents neighboring teeth from shifting out of alignment. Restoring a damaged tooth with a crown protects it from breaking or decaying further, preventing more complex problems.

Alleviate Pain and Discomfort

Many restorative needs, such as a cracked tooth or temporomandibular disorders (TMD), can cause significant pain. Our restorative procedures are designed to address the root cause of the issue and eliminate your discomfort.

Improve Your Speech Clarity

Missing teeth can negatively impact your ability to speak clearly. Restorations like dentures, bridges, and implants fill these gaps, allowing you to speak with renewed clarity and confidence.

Enhance Your Appearance

A complete and healthy smile is a key part of your appearance. Our restorative work focuses on creating a result that is not only functional, but also looks natural and beautiful.

Support Your Facial Structure

Tooth loss can cause the facial muscles to sag, leading to a sunken appearance. Dentures and implants provide support for your lips and cheeks, helping to maintain your natural facial contours.

Crowns

Protecting and Strengthening Damaged Teeth

A dental crown is primarily a restorative procedure designed to save a tooth that has been compromised by extensive decay, a large filling, a crack, or a root canal treatment. The crown acts like a protective helmet, covering the entire visible portion of the tooth to restore its strength, shape, and function while shielding it from further damage. We use CEREC technology to design and mill your durable zirconia or e.max crown right in our office, allowing us to complete your entire restoration in just one convenient appointment.

Implant Restorations

Permanent, Natural-Feeling Restorations

Dental implants are the most advanced and lifelike solution for replacing missing teeth, and we are proud to offer implant restorations as one of our top services. The process begins with our trusted specialist, Dr. Rao from Highland Lakes Oral Surgery, who surgically places the titanium implant post into the jawbone. After the area has healed, you will return to our office. Here, Dr. Koehn will take a digital impression and use our on-site technology to design and craft the beautiful, permanent crown that will attach to your implant, completing your new tooth.

Partial Dentures

A Removable Tooth Replacement Option

A partial denture is a custom-made, removable appliance designed to replace multiple missing teeth in the upper or lower jaw when some healthy natural teeth still remain. The denture consists of replacement teeth attached to a pink, gum-colored base, which may have a metal framework for support. It uses clasps that discreetly anchor to your remaining natural teeth to hold it securely in place. After taking precise digital impressions in our office, we send the specifications to a professional dental lab where your custom partial denture is fabricated.

Implant-Supported Dentures

Ultimate Denture Stability and Comfort

For patients seeking the ultimate level of denture performance, we offer implant-supported dentures. This innovative solution combines the stability of dental implants with the full-arch coverage of a denture. A small number of dental implants are strategically placed by our surgical partner. The custom-made denture then snaps securely onto these implants, locking it firmly in place.

This eliminates the slipping and irritation associated with traditional dentures, dramatically improves chewing power, and provides a superior level of comfort and confidence for the wearer.

Frequently Asked

Questions

We offer several excellent options to replace missing teeth. These include a fixed dental bridge, a removable partial denture, or an implant restoration. For implants, we partner with a trusted oral surgeon for the placement of the implant post, and then we create the beautiful, permanent crown that completes your smile right here in our office.

A same day crown is possible thanks to our in-office CEREC technology, which includes a Primescan digital scanner and a Primemill milling machine. We take a digital impression of your teeth and use it to design and fabricate your permanent crown on-site. The main benefit is convenience—the entire process is completed in a single visit.

Beyond cosmetics, we use Botox (Daxxify) for therapeutic relief. It can be an effective treatment for TMD to relieve jaw pain, and for certain types of migraines with neurologist approval. It can also help relax facial muscles to improve the fit and comfort of new dentures or to reduce involuntary facial twitching (blepharospasms).

Making Your Dental Care Accessible

We believe that managing the financial aspects of your care should be as simple and stress-free as possible. Our office provides several convenient payment options to suit your needs. We accept all major credit cards and CareCredit financing to help you fit your treatment into your budget.

For patients with dental coverage, we will gladly bill your insurance provider to ensure you receive your maximum benefits. We also offer an in-house dental membership plan, which is an excellent option for patients without insurance.
